Freshman business major Jacob Wright just won a $7,500 scholarship from Tinker Federal Credit Union. As a golfer, Jacob heard about the scholarship contest at the Oklahoma City University Freshman Athletics Convention. A TFCU community engagement team member spoke about the credit union’s scholarship program to the OCU student-athletes.
When Jacob received a phone call from TFCU saying he had won, “I was kind of shocked,” explained Jacob. “I was walking up to my coach and told him. He said, ‘Good for you!’”
Each year, TFCU gives away scholarships to students heading back to campus in the fall semester. In celebration of TFCU’s 75th anniversary in 2021, TFCU gave away three $7,500 scholarships. When asked about what he would do with the money Jacob said, “It’s going to go toward my college. It’s a nice way for our family to not have to worry.”
