TFCU Member Wins $30,586 ‘Great Auto Loan Payoff’

When Austin Vinson from Mustang, OK got the phone call that he had won the payoff of his $30,586.43 TFCU auto loan, he thought it was a scam. “I hung up on them when they called,” said Austin. “Then the TFCU staff called back and said, ‘Sir, don’t hang up!’ I told them, ‘I’m still skeptical, but I’ll hear you out.’ …If they were going to ask me for my social security number or my bank account number, I was out!”

After the winning reality sunk in and Austin hung up the phone with TFCU, he turned to his wife, Janeth. “I was on the verge of tears,” said Austin. “Then my wife and I spontaneously started dancing in the living room! It was the best anniversary present. We’ve been married for two years.”

Austin’s 2017 Nissan Armada is the sixth vehicle loan he’s had with TFCU over the last decade. As an Army veteran and long-time engineer with Northrop Grumman, he’s worked hard and paid off five TFCU auto loans for his children’s cars as well as ones he’s driven.

“This loan payoff helps us tremendously. Now that money we would have used in loan payments can be invested to get me closer to retirement,” said Austin.

As part of The TFCU Great Member Give Back program, TFCU is drawing four auto loan payoff winners each year. In 2021, TFCU gave back more than $175,000 to over 1,500 TFCU member winners just for using everyday TFCU accounts and services.
