“I was so surprised when I got the phone call saying I won gas for a year,” says Holly Gordon of Shawnee, Oklahoma. She is one of ten lucky winners who received $3,000 toward gas for a year from Tinker Federal Credit Union, just for being a member.
“Honestly right now we’re kind of in financial need and it’s going to help us out,” says Donald (Don) Hobbs of Noble, Oklahoma. TFCU brought many of the winners together for a Win Gas for A Year celebration , where they shared their stories and how the prize will make a difference in their lives.
“I drive a lot, over 30,000 miles a year. So I can use the money,” says Edmond restaurant owner Magid Assaleh. TFCU learned many of the winners, like Magid, put plenty of miles on the road for work and life. Sidney Koehn, for example, drives almost four hours a day for his work in the pipeline industry.
Fueling up for family, friends and daily life. Ryan Ericson, who has been a member since he was twelve years old, is always the one to drive his friends into the city for food, fun and hanging out. Sherri Chandler drives to visit her children and grandchildren, along with her “baby,” a very large German Shepherd who rides almost everywhere she goes.
Terri Andrews of Choctaw, who has been a TFCU member for almost forty years, often takes her mom and sister to appointments and says, “I’m going to be a TFCU member for the rest of my life. I’m not going anywhere else.”
From Edmond to Ada, Anadarko to Shawnee, $3,000 toward gas for a year is just one more way Tinker Federal Credit Union gives back to its members.
