Savannah Whitaker has always looked up to her big sister, Monique Lewis. As one of seven kids, Monique helped take care of Savannah and their other siblings while their mom worked. Now that they’re both adults, big sister has been coaching Savannah to follow in her footsteps and serve in the Air Force.
Savannah nominated Monique to receive a $300 Visa® gift card in TFCU’s annual ‘Thankful for You’ social media contest. Through her nomination Savannah shared, “This last year, I’ve been extra thankful and appreciative of the love and support my sister has given me. She joined the military back in 2012 and has been proudly serving our country ever since. Within this last year she helped me gain the courage to follow in her footsteps and also enlist into the USAF.”
Recently, Savannah got her car loan through TFCU after being stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. That’s when she started following TFCU’s social media. “When I saw the contest on social media and read other people’s nominations, I thought I might as well try,” said Savannah. “I was super excited when I won. This is really the first time I’ve ever won anything.”
Savannah thinks her sister will use at least some of the $300 the gift card for kitchen utensils because her sister loves to cook. TFCU also surprised Savannah with a $100 gift card for her thoughtfulness in nominating her sister. She plans to use the money for Christmas gifts or to pay bills.
