Tinker Federal Credit Union members Rick and Ronna Fryhover from Beggs, OK, recently won $19,424 to pay off their truck loan. The couple, married for 47 years, had just sat down for breakfast when they received a surprise phone call from TFCU. Rick’s immediate response to the news was, “That’s B.S. That can’t be true!”
According to Ronna, “As we talked to TFCU, they knew enough about us and our loan that we realized it was true…I wanted to tell everyone I knew! I wanted to tell strangers I just got my auto loan paid off.”
Always a truck family, Rick and Ronna can now drive their truck debt free around their acreage where they raise their cattle, haul hay and help their 95-year-old uncle plant and care for a garden.
As retirees and living on a “fixed income,” the Fryhovers were relieved but also practical about the big payoff. “I’m old enough to realize and think of taxes (from winning such a large prize),” said Ronna. “It’s a lot less to pay off than the truck, so that’s a win-win.”
