JA in a Day

In the fall of 2022, 24 TFCU employees volunteered their time to teach financial literacy skills to 496 students in kindergarten through 5th grade at Central Oak Elementary School in Oklahoma City. After taking a break from participating in Junior Achievement’s “JA in a Day” program due to the pandemic, TFCU employees were ready to get back into the classrooms. Junior Achievement’s purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy, and TFCU wholeheartedly supports that mission. Over the course of two school days, TFCU volunteers led fun, engaging activities for students to teach them about the importance of saving and giving, the value of work, the concept of needs versus wants and the importance of being involved, responsible community members.  JA in a Day is just one of the many ways the TFCU Financial Empowerment team teaches money management skills to more than 17,000 Oklahomans a year.
