OKLAHOMA CITY – Tinker Federal Credit Union (TFCU) Financial Educator Giovanni Monterroso was recently honored by Junior Achievement of Oklahoma as a 2015 Apple Award recipient. Monterroso was awarded the Green Apple Award, which recognizes volunteers who have taught financial education to more than 500 students.
The Apple Awards were created by Junior Achievement (JA) to thank and recognize classroom volunteers for their dedication to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy. This exclusive recognition is earned by engaging with students throughout multiple education classes and financial workshops.
Monterroso became a financial educator for TFCU in 2012, and has been involved with Junior Achievement of Oklahoma for over three years. As a financial educator for TFCU, he teaches financial education to community groups, schools and businesses with a strong focus on youth education. Last year, Monterroso was awarded the Red Apple Award, which is given to JA volunteers who have taught more than 250 students through educational classes.
“We are honored to have Giovanni as a part of TFCU’s financial empowerment team,” said TFCU’s Assistant Vice President/Manager of Financial Empowerment Cody Buchholz. “He is passionate about educating young people, and we are proud of his commitment to Junior Achievement and the work he has accomplished.”
TFCU is the largest credit union in Oklahoma, with $3.4 billion in assets and over 314,000 members.
