Major U.S. Retailer Data Breach Update
We were advised several weeks ago that a major U.S. retailer had experienced a data breach involving credit and debit cards from millions of their customers nationwide. To provide our members as much peace of mind as possible, we are replacing all TFCU member debit and credit cards that were involved.
More recently, we have learned that the same retailer is also reporting millions of customers’ names, mailing addresses, phone numbers and email addresses may be included in the breach. Because of the nature of this breach, we urge you to never give any personal or financial information to anyone who contacts you for any reason, no matter how convincing they may sound. Only give personal or financial information to a trusted source and only when you initiate the contact.
We assure you TFCU’s networks are safe and secure. This breach involved transactions and data with the retailer, not TFCU. We take our members’ security very seriously, though, so when there is a major breach anywhere, TFCU’s practice is to take the steps we can to safeguard your accounts and information.
If you have any concerns or see unauthorized transactions on your TFCU cards or other accounts, please contact us at (405) 732-0324 or 1-800-456-4828, or visit your nearest full-service branch.
