Credit Card Scammers Targeting Accounts
What would you do if someone called your cell phone, told you your debit card or credit card had been used fraudulently and asked you for your card number? Hang up, right? Smart move. There are scammers trying to trick you into giving them enough information so they can use your account.
A phishing scam used recently claims that TFCU has detected fraudulent activity on your credit card and then asks you to provide specific credit card and/or account numbers. If TFCU ever suspects fraudulent activity on your credit card, our Card Holder Services will call you to confirm purchase locations and dollar amounts of purchases to determine whether you did or did not make the purchases in question. To ensure we are speaking with you, the cardholder, we might ask for information such as the last four digits of your Social Security number or the last four digits of your credit card. We will not ask you for your account number or for your full credit card number.
If you suspect a phone call or e-mail could be a scam, or if you are asked information you are not comfortable giving over the phone, don’t take any chances. Call TFCU’s Member Service Center at (405) 732-0324 or 1-800-456-4828.
