Choosing the Right Cell Phone
If you’re in the market for a new cell phone or calling plan, consider these two common areas that can lead to overspending:
Number of minutes
Don’t be taken in by low-cost offers that don’t include the number of minutes you will typically use. When you go over the set limit, you may pay very high per-minute charges. If you use your phone only for emergencies, a “pay per minute” plan may work for you. If you live on the phone, however, choose an unlimited plan to contain your costs. Moderate cell phone users can choose something in between.
Cell phone and plan features
Only pay for what you need. Extras such as a built-in digital camera or text messaging can add $50 or more to your costs.
