Beware of Online Résumé Scams
More and more people are letting online job posting services do the leg work for them. That can be a smart move to give you more exposure. Be wary of any “employer” asking for information about your bank account information, credit card information or Social Security number, however, warns Margaret Dikel, co-author of The Guide to Internet Job Searching.
No legitimate employer will ask for this type of personal information before you’ve been hired, Dikel said. A legitimate employer will need your Social Security number eventually, but usually not until you have been through a lengthy interview process and received a job offer, she said.
